About Movement & Place CIC

Built on movement.
Built for community.

More than two decades of world-leading movement education — now directed entirely toward the communities that need it most.

Our story

Founded by the pioneers behind Parkour Generations.

Movement & Place CIC was founded by the parkour pioneers behind Parkour Generations — the organisation that brought parkour to the UK and built the world’s first professional coaching qualification framework for the discipline.

Parkour Generations was established in 2003 by first-generation practitioners from Évry, France. Over the following two decades it became the world’s leading parkour education organisation — delivering coaching, qualifications, and community programmes across more than forty countries.

Movement & Place CIC takes that foundation and directs it entirely toward community benefit. We are a Community Interest Company — constitutionally committed to using every pound we generate in service of the communities we work with.

About — founding story image

Our conviction

Movement is not a luxury.
It is a right.

Physical inactivity, poor mental health, social isolation, and exclusion from sport are not individual failures. They are systemic ones. The communities that need movement most are consistently the ones that receive it least.

We exist to address that at the root — not with token sessions or drop-in classes, but with structured, evidence-based, community-embedded programmes that create genuine and lasting change.

Why parkour — movement in action

The method

Why parkour works where other approaches fail.

Parkour is inherently self-paced, non-competitive, and adaptive. There are no teams, no benches, no minimum fitness requirement. Every participant moves at their own level. Progress is visible, personal, and celebrated.

This makes it uniquely effective with the groups that conventional sport consistently fails: young people who have been excluded or disengaged, women who distrust gyms, people in mental health recovery, children with SEND, and anyone for whom “sport” has ever felt like a door that wasn’t open to them.

Our methodology is rooted in twenty-plus years of coaching science developed through ADAPT Qualifications — the world’s first internationally recognised parkour coaching certification, founded in 2008.
