Impact — Movement & Place CIC

Our impact

Every number has a
community behind it.

Measurable outcomes, independently tracked and published. We do not claim impact we cannot demonstrate.

Why this matters

The problem is systemic. So is our response.

Physical inactivity costs the NHS more than £7 billion every year. Fewer than half of adults in England meet basic activity guidelines. Fundamental movement skills in children are declining. Young women and girls drop out of sport at alarming rates.

These are not abstract statistics. They describe the daily reality of the communities where we work — and they represent a profound failure of a system that treats movement as a luxury and physical education as an afterthought.

Movement & Place CIC was founded to build a different response — place-based, human-centred, and evidence-led.

Measurement

How we know it’s working.

Every programme strand has its own measurement framework, reported annually and made available to funders.

Physical literacy

ACSM / FUNdamentals

Pre and post assessments using internationally recognised physical literacy frameworks for children’s programmes.

Mental wellbeing

WEMWBS, PHQ-9, GAD-7

Validated clinical measurement tools for the MOVE WELL programme, in line with NHS social prescribing standards.

Youth development

Longitudinal tracking

Employment outcomes, qualification completions, and school attendance correlation data tracked over multiple years.

Research & publication

We publish what we find.

Movement & Place CIC is committed to publishing outcomes data in partnership with university research partners. Published evidence strengthens future funding applications and holds us accountable to the communities we serve.

Our research focus is particularly on the MOVE WELL mental health programme, where clinical outcome data has the greatest potential to influence commissioning decisions.
