Programmes — Movement & Place CIC

What we do

Six programmes.
One mission.

Structured, evidence-based movement education — designed for the communities and challenges that existing provision has consistently failed to reach.

Programme 01

Outdoor Community Activation.

Freely accessible outdoor movement environments — designed, programmed, and activated for all ages, every day of the year.

We work with landowners, local authorities, and public bodies to design and programme outdoor movement spaces in underserved communities. From sandpits to parkour circuits, from balance trails to community amphitheatres, we create places that are genuinely alive with movement activity.

All outdoor programming is freely accessible and specifically designed to welcome people who are not currently physically active.

Who it’s for: Children aged 0–16, families, older adults, and the general public.

Children's Movement Education

Programme 02

Children’s Movement Education.

Structured physical literacy for ages 1–18, with dedicated provision for those that mainstream PE consistently fails.

Our children’s programmes are mapped to the National Curriculum for Physical Education and delivered by ADAPT-qualified coaches. We provide sessions for homeschooled children, children with special educational needs (SEND), and those in pupil referral units or alternative education.

Parkour is uniquely suited to children who have been disengaged from traditional sport: it is self-paced, non-competitive, and deeply motivating. Every child moves at their own level. There are no benches, no teams, no losers.

Subsidised and free places are available for families on free school meals or in receipt of means-tested benefits.

Programme 03

shecanTRACE — Women & Girls’ Programme.

Our established, internationally recognised women’s parkour initiative — now a core Movement & Place programme.

shecanTRACE creates welcoming, coach-led spaces where women and girls can discover movement on their own terms. Built on the conviction that parkour belongs to everyone, the programme actively dismantles the confidence, safety, and representation barriers that keep women away from sport.

A core strand is female coach development through the ADAPT Qualifications framework — addressing the systemic underrepresentation of women in sports coaching at its root.

Who it’s for: Women and girls aged 8 and over. No experience required.

MOVE WELL — mental health and movement

Programme 04

MOVE WELL — Mental Health & Wellbeing.

Movement as medicine — structured, evidence-based, delivered via NHS social prescribing pathways.

MOVE WELL is delivered in partnership with NHS social prescribing services, GP surgeries, and community mental health teams. Sessions are trauma-informed, non-competitive, and designed to build peer community alongside physical and psychological resilience.

Outcomes are measured using validated clinical tools including WEMWBS, PHQ-9, and GAD-7, and published in partnership with our university research partners.

Who it’s for: Adults experiencing mild-to-moderate anxiety, depression, or social isolation, referred via social prescribing.

Programme 05

NEXT GEN — Youth Development Pathway.

From first session to internationally recognised coaching qualification and paid employment.

NEXT GEN is a structured progression taking young people aged 10–24 through five levels — from free taster sessions to paid employment as junior coaches. Movement & Place CIC commits to offering paid employment to a minimum of six young people per year from the local community through this pathway.

Community Events — place activation

Programme 06

Events & Place Activation.

Free public events that keep outdoor spaces alive and build genuine community culture.

Our annual programme of free public events — jams, movement festivals, school showcases, and community gatherings — activates outdoor spaces and embeds Movement & Place CIC as a visible, trusted institution.

All events are free or heavily subsidised and open to the public. Our annual community jam regularly draws 300–500 participants from across the UK and beyond.

Target: 1,000+ attendees at annual events by Year 3.
